  • Sarah says:

    230c sorry!

  • Tony says:

Do you cook them in the bowl on the lower rack or put them direct onto the rack?

  • Sarah says:

    230 degrees Celsius

  • Sarah says:

Doesnt make a lot of difference, I use the rack

This is the first one I have read that sounds as if it is actually written for the halogen oven! But I don’t believe that at 230c it is going to take 25 to 30 minutes for them to cook – even on the lower rack.

I usually use something on the rack as the bars are too far apart and things fall through. Why don’t they make a finer grid rack as the things do cook better when the heat can get all around them.

Why can’t they give us some whole meal recipes? What are we supposed to eat with our potato wedges? Can’t we cook whatever it is at the same time? What I need to know is what cooks at the top and what at the bottom, where it is protected from the intense heat.

i totally agree with everything that has been said, i have bought the books and followed the times and temps and ended up with bone dry chicken breasts, burnt full chickens and chops, and handling is totally ridiculous when you take out the bowl to clean, the weight of the actual heater over balances so where’s the health and safety in that, the electric lead is not long enough,i am biting the bullet and realise it is time wasted and money lost.

Spanish Omelette

Halogen Oven Recipes

Spanish Omelette

Ingredients:
300g potatoes, peeled and chopped into 1cm pieces
1 red pepper finely chopped
4 large eggs beaten
1/2 red onion finely chopped
100g feta cheese

Preheat halogen oven to 225c for a couple of minutes, put an oven proof dish in to heat through with a drizzle of olive oil in. ( Or the halogen oven frying pan works well for this recipe: http://bit.ly/g7sFMn )

Add the potatoes to the hot oil and stir to coat. Cook until potatoes are evenly coloured on all sides (stirring occasionally). Add the pepper and onion with a little more olive oil and stir to coat evenly. Cook for a further 5 mins.

Remove dish from oven and add the beaten eggs.

Give the dish a shake to evenly spread the eggs. Do not stir as eggs will scramble.
Put the dish back into the oven and crumble feta cheese (although any cheese would do) over the top along with salt and pepper to taste and cook for a further 5mins until golden and set
