Sweet and sour cod


Halogen Oven Recipes



Sweet and sour cod

This is very tasty recipes guys, You MUST try it. You can also do it with chicken or beef. Sauce is lovely too.

Ingredients

2 skinless cod fillets
2 Tbsp tomato sauce
1/2 green pepper

1 tbsp mango chutney
1 tbsp vinegar
1 Tbsp sugar
225 tinned pineapple in juice
1/2 onion cubes
1 tbsp oil
1 tbsp cornflower
Serves 2

Method

1. Place cod & oil on round oven tray and season, put in halogen oven on high rack 240c for 6 minutes turning once.
2. In a bowl add tomato sauce, sugar,mango chutney, vinegar, pineapple, green pepper, onion & cornflower (pre- mixed with a little cold water).
3 Mix well then pour over the cod and cook for a further 10 minutes stirring twice.

    Can you cook directly in the glass bowl of the Halogen Oven or do you need a tray or dish inside it?

Anjou Pear Cake


Halogen Oven Recipes



Anjou Pear Cake

Ingredients
50g 2oz melted butter, plus bit for tin
500g 1lb2oz ripe pears peeled & cored roughly chopped(buttery type are best)
juice lemon
1 tbsp Poire William (Optional)

75g 2.5oz caster sugar
75g 2.5oz plain flour
1 heaped tsp baking powder
Pinch of salt
2 beaten eggs
2 tbsp apricot jam
icing suger for dusting
creme fraiche to serve

Heat oven to 180 gas 4. Line 20cm loose bottom tin line and brush with butter.

Put pears in a bowl with lemon and Poire if using.
Sieve flour +baking powder with a pinch of salt
and caster sugar. Next beat in eggs and melted butter, fold in pears with juices. Pour cake mix into tin. Bake for 50 mins or until skewer comes out clean, cool remove from tin. For glaze
melt apricot jam with 1tbsp water pass through sieve to remove lumps. Brush cake dust with icing sugar serve cold or warm with creme fraiche.

    Wonder if still have that small one from older microwave oven. Maybe will do same job.

    Have you noticed how the price of the jml products have shot up recently. Extra £10 and £20 here and there on many items. Scam stay away from them until they come back own to earth and have more realistic affordable prices again. Tis a shame as i was thinking of buying two for xmas presents. Will look elsewhere to buy than JML direct.

Classic English Fruit Cake

Try this beautiful cake recipe in your halogen oven and let us now what you think!

You won’t be disappointed!

Ingredients (serves 10):
170g unsalted butter
170g light brown sugar

4 medium sized eggs
100ml apple juice
170g sultanas
170g raisins
170g currants
250g plain flour
55g ground almonds
2 x 15ml tablespoons black treacle
1 x 5ml teaspoon mixed spice
½ x 5ml teaspoon grated nutmeg
½ x 5ml teaspoon freshly ground cinnamon
1 x 15ml table spoon bicarbonate of soda
55g toasted flaked almonds, chopped
255g mixed dried fruit, chopped
30g glacé cherries, halved
2 – 3 x 15ml tablespoons sherry

Method:
1. Pre-heat the Halogen Oven to 140ºC (290ºF).
2. Whisk the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
3. Beat the eggs & add to the butter, a little at a time, beating well between each addition
4. Stir in the treacle.
5. Sift the flour and dry ingredients together, add the fruit and stir into the butter mixture. Stir in the sherry and add just enough apple juice to moisten.
6. Turn the mixture into a deep, 25cm (9 inch) prepared cake tin (ideally a ring shaped tin) and bake in the Halogen Oven for 45 minutes – 1 hour. (low to medium rack)
If cooked, a skewer will come out clean, when inserted into the middle of the cake
7. Leave to cool in the tin for 15 minutes before lifting onto a wire rack to cool.
